Slide and Photo Frequently Asked Questions.

Q. Will you do higher resolution scanning for me if I really want it ?
A. Sorry but no. We don't think that 99% of our customers really need to pay to have their slides scanned at an exceedingly high resolution unless they plan on having prints made that are poster sized. We suggest that you try our free demo scan offer and make sure that you really wouldn't be happy with our regular scanning resolution of 3200 pixels per inch.

Q. I numbered my 35mm slides and photos. Will the numbers on the images match the numbers on my photos?

A. We are not going to be able to guarantee that every image will match up with the number on the back of each picture or slide. This would require looking at each picture, once again, and checking it to the image on the computer and comparing names and numbers. This would be more than could be expected and too labor intensive for our low prices. The scanning is semi-automated and, if a slide is bent or defective, it may not feed correctly and might be skipped. (This does not happen often but it does happen and so we only charge for the actual scans that we do.) This would throw off the batch renaming of the images. The purpose of your numbering should be to keep the photos in proper order, not to ID them.

Q. I am so pleased with how the slides and photos turned out.  They look better than they did on the slide projector!  I plan to figure out a day that will work for both of us that I can come over this week and bring more photos plus those I would like restored so you can give me an estimate.  I have a few questions in respect to those completed.  Do I order the number of disks I want now?  If so, can I order more later if others want them?  I noticed in your note it mentioned text, is this something we can add to our disks after we receive them?  Can the order of the pictures be changed after we receive the disks?  My Mom doesn’t have anything in order.  I thought it was just the slides but her photo albums are the same.  It seems that it would be easier to do this once they are on a disk if that is possible.

I also have letters and postcards that we would like to have scanned so all of us can share.  Do you scan them too?

Thank you for doing such wonderful work with our photos.  My family is very impressed and we have quite a few left to scan so look forward to continuing our work with you!

A. Duplicate disks can be ordered now or later. We keep copies on hand indefinitely. I do need some time to make them so would need to know ahead of time how many you want.
Once the disks are made, nothing can be altered on the disk. We can make changes and recompile for a slight extra charge, if that is needed.
If you do not want the DVD slide show disk right now, but want a Data disk so that you can copy to your computer and reorganize, we can do that. There is a ten dollar extra charge for the Data disk. There are very strict rules for naming files and folders in order for the DVD slide show to work correctly and you must follow these rules. See this page for naming rules. http://www.affordable-35mm-slide-scanning.com/images-provided-by-customer.htm There would be no extra charge for doing this, if you do not add extra folders.

You would:

  1. Get a DVD data disk.
  2. Copy to your Hard Drive
  3. Reorganize your files and folders. If you make extra folders, there is an extra charge of $1 per folder.
  4. Copy all back to a new DVD data disk
  5. Give to us and we will create your DVD slide show disks and make duplicates.
We can also do the postcards and other documents. They would be considered the same as photos, according to size.
